01

Attending an Auction

All auctions start at 10:00 AM. If you want to avoid a wait at registration, plan to arrive early. Registration opens at 8:30 AM.
Yes. Preview is held the Friday before every auction from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM. For auctions held outside of Mesa County, preview runs 12:00 – 4:00 PM. At preview, you can inspect all items and we’ll go over the order of sale.
Parking and restrooms are available at all auctions. Seating is not usually provided — feel free to bring a lawn chair. We will have food available to purchase at our auctions.
Our auctions are outdoors — come prepared. We recommend sunscreen, water, a hat, and sunglasses. Also bring your driver’s license to register, and your tax exemption certificate if applicable. If you plan on purchasing large or heavy items, bring help for loading.
It depends on the size of the sale. The order of sale and setup will be announced at the Friday preview, so you’ll know what to expect before auction day.
02

Registration & Bidding

We take registration the day of the sale only — there is no pre-registration. Look for the cashier when you arrive — she’s always dressed in pink. You’ll provide your name, address, and phone number and receive a bid card registered to your name.
Bring a valid driver’s license. If you are tax-exempt, bring your tax exemption certificate or tax number.
Hold your bid card where Jill can see it — it keeps the auction moving smoothly. Don’t be nervous. You can understand Jill when she’s calling, and her team is always there to help. Come to the Friday preview so you know exactly what you want before the auction starts.
03

Payment

We accept cash, checks, and credit cards. We use Clover for card payments. Please note there is a 3% credit card processing fee.
No. There is no buyer’s premium at Boots N Lace auctions. The price you bid is the price you pay (plus applicable sales tax and the credit card fee if paying by card).
When you’re done purchasing, head to the cashier to pay for your items before you leave. Payment is due the day of the sale. For titled items or vehicles paid by check, we will hold the item until the check clears.
Yes, sales tax applies to most items. Exceptions include titled items and farm equipment. If you are tax-exempt, bring your tax exemption certificate or tax number to registration.
04

Pickup & Loading

Items should be picked up the day of the sale. If you need to arrange a different pickup time, let us know and we can work something out. We’ll stay in contact with you to get everything picked up in a timely manner.
Yes — as long as you let us know ahead of time. Exception: firearms must be picked up by the registered buyer and transferred through our FFL dealer.
Yes, buyers are responsible for moving and loading their own purchases. We do have guys on site who can help — please tip them for their assistance. Bring your own vehicle, trailer, or equipment for large items.
05

Items & Policies

Yes. All items are sold as-is, where-is. No refunds are allowed after purchase. If an item is known not to be in working order, Jill will announce it before it sells. Auction-day announcements are final.
Yes. All firearm buyers are required to complete a background check and pick up their firearms through our licensed FFL dealer. Firearms cannot be picked up the day of the sale or by a third party.
Absolutely. You can inspect all items at the Friday preview (12–5 PM) and on the day of the auction. Photos are also posted on our website ahead of time. We strongly encourage everyone to preview before bidding.

Selling With Us

Give us a call and we’ll come out to see what you have. We’ll walk through everything together and talk you through the process — no pressure, no obligation. If we can’t help you make money on your sale, we’ll tell you that upfront.
We specialize in Living Estate, Farm & Equipment, Business Liquidation, Estate, and Charity Auctions. We’ve sold everything under the sun — goats, chickens, firearms, antiques, farm equipment, and more. If it has value, we can sell it.
We don’t usually take basic household auctions unless they include items of real value — such as jewelry, gold, silver, firearms, vehicles, or farm equipment. Not sure if your sale qualifies? Call us anyway. You never know until we come take a look.
All fees come out of the proceeds from the sale — there’s no upfront cost to you as a seller. We handle all the paperwork, sales tax collection and remittance, money collection, and bills of sale for large items.
Yes — and we do them for free. If your organization is a registered 501(c)(3), Jill will run your benefit or charity auction at no charge. We bring the energy, the crowd, and everything it takes to make your fundraiser a success.
We are based in Grand Junction, Colorado and primarily serve Western Colorado and Utah. We have also conducted auctions in Texas and Montana. Give us a call to discuss your location.
For large or high-value items, Jill does her own research ahead of time to understand what comparable pieces are selling for. But at the end of the day, true value is set by what someone will pay for it — and that’s exactly what an auction determines. The competitive bidding process often produces results that surprise even the sellers.
We come to you. Boots N Lace conducts on-site auctions at your location — your home, farm, business, or property. We don’t require you to haul anything to a facility. We bring the team, the setup, and the buyers to wherever the items are.
It depends on the size of the sale and how quickly everything can be organized — sometimes a few weeks, sometimes a couple of months. We try to make the process as easy as possible for our clients and will keep you informed every step of the way.
